“Like a Bomb Going Off” on Collecting Russian Art blog

In a post on the blog Collecting Russian Art, Barry O’Keefe discusses a Stanford Report article on research by Janice Ross. He connects the reading of the choreographer Leonid Yakobson’s work to the role of visual art of the period. O’Keefe writes:

While Ross’ work is focused on dance, fundamental concepts from her work can be applied to Soviet painting. The tremendous value placed on the arts by the state in the USSR was both a blessing and a curse. To say that art is important is simply a different way of saying art is dangerous.
